Motion to AMM
This clp views with frustration and anger that we have been plunged into a third national lockdown. This is largely due to the incompetence and mishandling of the pandemic by this Tory government.
To ease the burden and hardship of this lockdown we make the following demands for Kier Starmer to place before the Government and then for the Labour Party and trade unions to join a campaign to fight for them.
> furlough pay to be 100% of current salary during the duration of the NPI’s
> statutory sick pay to be paid at 100% of wages when isolating
> parents to be entitled to ask for and be given furlough pay while schools remain closed
> Universal Credit uplift to be made permanent and include all affected by unemployment including the disabled
> subsidy for the self employed during the duration of the NPI’s should be made easier and available for more recent start ups and in line with the PAYE furlough scheme. This should include all workers not covered by the current schemes and ensure it covers all workers and no worker is left aside.
> Most evictions have been paused untill 11th January we call on the Government to extend the Pause on evictions until the 3 months after the lifting of NPI’s
> three weeks redundancy pay for each year worked capped raises to £1025 until 3 months after NPI’s have been lifted
> all street homeless to be housed without exception during the duration of NPI’s
> a second winter fuel payment to be made

Motion to Harrow West CLP November 2020
This CLP is shocked at the fact that our MP along with the majority of the PLP abstained and allowed the so called Spy cops bill to pass through parliament with barely a whimper. This bill was opposed by 14 different trade unions, dozens of campaigning organisations and 98 MPs but for some reason the vast majority of the PLP sat on their hands.
Workers in the construction industry faced notorious black lists where they found it almost impossible to earn a living because they had committed the heinous crime of being a union activist. The reason so many people ended up being blacklisted was because undercover police officers infiltrated their organisations, in some cases acted as provocateurs and then reported to their masters.
None of the things those workers did were illegal and no one was ever charged with anything. The whole operation was so big business could disrupt trade unionists going about their legal duties. This CLP understands the country needs protecting from criminal elements and undercover work is often essential – but the bill is a massive attack on civil liberties and will in time be used to undermine any opposition
